The trees are in full bloom, the grass is green, and the birds
have returned to reclaim the land they left last fall.
It's summer in Northeast Minnesota. And there's no place
more beautiful than the Arrowhead Region. So much to do in
so little time. Watch the boats enter the Duluth harbor in
Southern St. Louis County.
Visit the rocky North shore of Lake Superior. Enjoy the
tranquility of the Gunflint Trail in
Cook County. Watch for moose driving the back
roads of
Lake County. Drive to
where the road North ends in Ely and enter the endless water way
of the BWCA in
Northern St. Louis County.
Maybe you want to try an off road adventure in Gilbert's OHV
park in
Central St. Louis County.
Sounds like a lot to do. Right? Well, I haven't
mentioned the thousands of lake's that are scattered across the
Arrowhead Region of Northeast, MN. The fish have just
finished spawning and they're hungry. The bass are
crushing crayfish. Trout are feeding on smelt. The
Walleye and Northern Pike are feeding on Perch and the
Musky are eating everything. The infamous Walleye bite
steady till August, then starts to slow in the warm water.
That's when the Bass are at their best. With so many
species of fish to choose from, there's never a slow moment.
No place in the Midwest can offer such a wide variety of
experiences. So plan the vacation you want. A remote
Canadian style setting at half the price. A stay at a
quiet lodge on the lake. Tenting it on one of the hundreds
of campsites in the Superior National Forest or Voyageur's
National Park. A visit to one of many state parks. A
stay in a friendly small town for fishing and shopping. A
campsite on your own little island. Or just a day of
recreation hopping dock to dock at shops along Lake Vermilion.
Whatever type of vacation you choose, you will not be alone.
Loons and Bald Eagle's fish along your side. White tail
deer wonder down to the shoreline of lakes and rivers for a
drink of water. Beaver stand guard by their hut.
And the occasional moose can be spotted forging across the lake
in search of food.
