Dark Water Vs. Clear Water
In clear water try to use neutral colors such as white, gold, or silver.  Nothing too flashy.  Since the water is clear and the fish can see better, you may not need to use extremely bright colors to attract the attention of fish.  Also, when fishing clear water with a lindy (spinner) rig, a longer leader is needed.  The clearer the water, the longer the leader.  Keep in mind that many clear water lakes are best fished in the early morning before and during sunrise, or late evening before or after sundown.

In dark tea color or bog stained water, try using bright colors such as orange or chartreuse.  Also, try giving gold a shot.  Fish have limited visibility and bright colors will help attract their attention.  Keep in mind that these lakes are typically your 9-5r's and also have success just before sundown.
